What happens when pressure comes?
In this passage, everything begins to unravel.
The disciples sleep.
Peter denies.
Religious leaders reject.
Pilate caves.
The crowd demands.
Everyone falls.
But Jesus stands.
In the Garden, he faces the full weight of what is to come – and chooses obedience.
In the arrest, he refuses violence.
In the courtyard, he is abandoned.
In the trial, he is declared innocent – and still condemned.
And then comes Barabbas.
The guilty goes free.
The innocent takes his place.
This is not just part of the story.
This is the heart of the gospel.
This sermon explores what it means that when we fall under pressure, Jesus stands – and stands in our place. Not only to save us, but to begin transforming us by his Spirit.
